There has been a very poor turnout of volunteers for social ministry events lately, and without
everyone pitching in, we can’t continue these worthy events.
Good News:
- We prepared 48 Halloween bags for the community children and handed them out on 10/23.
Recent Events:
October – 10th Blessing of the Animals. No attendees this year.
October – 23rd Trick or Treat bag handout – We packed 48 bags of candy/toys for the community
children. Thanks to Ruth and Deb for donations and Elaine, Ethan and Abby for helping.
Ongoing – Food collection for Mt. Zion food pantry. Food will be delivered several times before the
end of the year.
Upcoming Events
November - Monthly food collection to be given to Mt Zion food pantry at the end of the month.
November – 28th Soldier’s Angels Holiday Stockings for Heroes. We will meet after church and fill the
stockings to be shipped before December 10th. We need donations of either money or items from the
wish list to fill the stockings and folks to help fill the stockings. I’ve had Lynda post on website, Elaine
post on Facebook, and Sherrie post in bulletin. I committed to 10 stockings.
December – 5th Church decorating will take place after church
December - 19th Cookie exchange. I may put out a sign-up sheet to see if anybody will be
participating.
December – 24th I purchased little treat bags with a cute manger scene and a few goodies to put
inside for the children that attend service on the 24th. I also purchased Christmas wallet cards for any
adults that attend the service.
Reporting on social ministry events – If you manage an event sponsored through SM, please
provide Kim with a text or email with the event title, number in attendance, money raised, and where
the funds will go.
